Annual Appeal: Matching Gift Campaign (Any Amount Helps)

Friends & Supporters,

We’re facing a critical challenge at Phoenix Center. I’ve shared in the past about the national mental health emergency that has been declared for our children and teens. Each of us knows someone, perhaps a grandchild, a friend, or a neighbor who is struggling.

In recent years, we have seen a growing number of children at Phoenix Center in crisis. Children as young as 6 or 8 are showing signs of severe distress, including thoughts of suicide. The crisis has reached alarming levels.

To meet this crisis, we have expanded our crisis counseling and mental health services in local schools. Many children are unable to reach the Phoenix Center by car, so we are meeting them where they are, in their schools.

However, this year I faced a heartbreaking choice point. In 2025, our school district lost all state funding for mental health counseling for students. This year, we would have to fund 100% of the cost of Phoenix Center’s crisis counseling in 3 local schools, over $115,000. In addition, our waitlist has tripled, and we need more therapists to meet this demand. Our total need is greater than $250,000.

With gratitude,
Sarah
